AntarYānā - Musical Journey Within
The story of AntarYānā follows the journey of the female protagonist Rasika, the bond she shares with her Grandfather and how this influences her attitudes to music as a Indian classical/semi-classical vocalist in later years.
This journey is symbolised by a yatra undertaken by Rasika, as a young girl, with her family in the first half of the production to several popular temples in South India. In the second half of the production, we see a young-adult Rasika continue her journey to holy cities located in the North of India.
The journey that Rasika takes throughout the production reflects the journey of her soul as a musician - "AntarYānā". Through the teachings of her grandfather and coincidental discussion with other characters in the story, an older Rasika discovers the inspiration for her music - art for the love of it - a key theme for the production and a core value that Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya (SMV) holds dearly to.
The production features a cast of approximately 90 including SMV teachers and students and professional musicians, delivered as live music along with dance and drama.
Date, time and location
AntarYānā will be staged on two days at John Curtin College of the Arts, on 7th August and 8th August 2021 at 6.30 pm.
