Sowmya Subramanian grew up India and migrated to Australia as a student to pursue her Masters in IT. She has been associated with The Temple of Fine arts (TFA) Coimbatore, India, from a very young age and continues to engage herself in all activities in the Perth centre as well. She graduated in Bharata Natyam from TFA Coimbatore in the year 2007 under the tutelage of Shrimati Kamakshi Jayaraman and Shrimati Vimala Chandrasekar and has been teaching since. She is also studying Odissi from Manjula Radha Krishnan, and Kathak from Sukhi Shetty -Krishnan and guitar from Sudha Sudharshan.
Sowmya’s goals as a teacher is for her students to enjoy their journey in dance and create an awareness that there is much more to dance than simply moving their body. She wishes for her students to experience along with her the joy of soulful dancing. She feels they be groomed not only as good dancers but also as good human beings.
