Siddha Nayki started her dance journey at the age of 3 learning Bharata Natyam at
the Temple of Fine Arts (TFA) in Singapore, under the guidance of Kumari Suryakala.
She went onto completing her Bharatanatyam Arangetram in 1991under the care of
Shrimati Kamashi Jayaraman and Shrimati Usha Dorai, after which she commenced
teaching Bharatanatyam in Temple of Fine Arts Perth in 1992. Siddha has also learnt
Hindustani vocal under the guidance of Pandit Chandrakant Kapileshwari and Shri
Kedar Kharat and Carnatic vocal under the guidance of Shrimati Raji Sekhar.
Together with numerous other Bharatanatyam graduates, she was conferred
with the sacred title of Nrityanjali at TFA International Graduation Ceremony that
was held in 1993, where she also received the ‘Poojaniya Guru Shivadas Ratna-
Sabha Distinction Award’ from her Guru and founder of this organisation, Swami
Siddha is one of the many dancers in the organisation who has had the privilege to
learn and perform Kathak under the guidance of Pandit Birju Maharajji and Kumari
Saswati Sen. She had her initial training under the care of Shrimati Dipanjali Bedi.
Siddha is currently pursuing her PhD at the National Centre for Indigenous Studies at
the Australian National University (ANU).
