Relish in the intoxicating music and movement of Odissi – the classical dance style of Orissa. Odissi is both style and substance, stamina and grace, tandava and lasya. Like all the other classical dance styles of India, it has the power to take you into the realm of exquisite beauty and poetry.


Blessed and trained by legendary gurus Kelucharan Mohapatra and Sanjukta Panigrahi, as well as Gajendra Panda and Geetha Shankaran Lam , students of the TFA/SMV were trained and groomed into teachers to spread joy and beauty of Odissi to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Perth and Coimbatore. Together choreographing enchanting works, inspiring all.

Course specifics



The course takes the beginner through basic introduction, dance history and theory before moving into the Odissi repertoire of mangalacaran, sthai, pallavi, moksha and finally abhinaya. The course is performance oriented and students are assessed regularly in class, at frequent informal presentations, and finally, in full production projects.

Practicum: 1 hour weekly
