Maniam Selven: 50 years in Retrospective

Maniam Selven 50 years in Retrospective:

Maniam Selven popularly known as Ma.Se is the son of a well known artist Sri. Kalki Maniam. Born in 1950 & christened Loganathan by his parents, he preferred to be known as his father’s son and thus Maniam Selven – son of Maniam – who has become a name to reckon with in the field of illustration. From the time he graduated as a gold medalist in Commercial Art from College of Arts & Crafts, Chennai in 1973, Ma Se has pushed the boundaries of acadamic style of drawing and painting at every stage of his life. In the past five decades, he has left no artistic medium that has not been tried or utilised to the benefit of the art form resulting in works ranging from realistic to abstract. Ma Se often talks about the ‘Search’ for knowledge and learning - be it a new concept, painting material or using computers and modern technology, has never been quenched and his exploration continues.

This session will give a glimpse of Ma Se's journey in the field of art.
